“Enjoy every moment with family and friends and don’t let what other people say about you bother you.”– Spring
Editor’s Note: I asked questions of people who I have seen live out a fabulous story – during times when they have answers and times when they don’t. These stories inspired me, and I think they will give you perspective, too!
When you were younger, what did you think your life would look like?
I’ve always envisioned my life being married and living in my own house with a career that I love not all that close to family. When I was much younger I wanted to have two kids as well. What career I wanted to end up in has changed quite a bit over the years. It’s gone from wanting to be a chef, a choreographer, an architect and eventually a forensic scientist.
How did your dreams for the future change?
Well, I am married and have a job that I love. I’m working on the house and still up in the air on kids. My jobs are none of the ones that I originally want to go into. I’m a chemist in the skincare industry currently while teaching group fitness on the side. I fell into my current career in cosmetics. Best job change I could’ve made, though.
What were the kinds of pivotal moments that led you to where you are today?
Finding Zumba while I was in college. Teaching Zumba and meeting fellow instructors has brought a joy to my life that I never knew I was missing. It kicked off my passion for fitness that makes me happy.
Happening upon my current chemist job. As a cosmetic chemist, I get to work my creative side while getting to apply science –– which I truly enjoy. I never feel like I hate my job.
Meeting my husband. He has grounded me in ways that I didn’t know I needed. His unwavering support has made it possible to really grow in life and love in a healthy way.
What are you learning right now?
Always learning patience. But right now learning how to take better care of body while being busy.
What do you love about your life in this moment?
That I don’t have any big life event to plan and stress for.
What brings you joy/fills your soul?
Helping people in their fitness journeys.
If a kid walked up to you asking for your advice and you only had a few minutes to give them your best tip, what would it be?
Enjoy every moment with family and friends and don’t let what other people say about you bother you.
What do you wish everyone knew about health and fitness, teaching group fitness, and cosmetic chemistry?
I wish that everyone knew that getting fit is not as easy as dieting and doing some special workout. It’s about consistency with eating healthy and staying active. For group fitness, I wish that non-instructors knew just how much time and effort we put into our classes.
I wish everyone would stop believing everything they read about cosmetics. They need to research the accurate science behind the marketing crap they read out there.
