Kriselle’s Story

“I’ve changed my mind about how I view my career and what I want it to be. I’ve changed how I view the world we live in and strive to live a life more connected to that life I envision.”

When you were younger, what did you think your life would look like as an adult?

When I was younger, I always imagined myself to be married and living in a house with my husband. My dream job has changed a lot over the years but has always been within a creative industry. I’ve imagined myself to be a fashion journalist at a magazine and travel the world for work.

What does your life look like now?

I am married, and while I do not own my own home, I do live in a nice and comfortable apartment with my husband. I am currently a freelance social media manager and crowdfunding consultant.

What have you changed your mind about?

I’ve changed my mind about how I view my career and what I want it to be. I’ve changed how I view the world we live in and strive to live a life more connected to that life I envision.

What were the pivotal moments and decisions that led you to where you are today?

I was a lifestyle blogger at one point and was introduced to the idea of blogging for business and eventually online business in general. Being exposed to these industries have completely changed how I want to live my life and career when I get even older and start a family.

I lived abroad in Sydney, Australia as well. Living there and being completely dependent on public transportation and seeing it done well has also revolutionized how I view cities and how I want to navigate being in them. Working at an architecture firm has also made me more aware of how cities work and how we interact with the built environment, and it still mindblows me how much these experiences have affected how I live my life today.

What are you learning right now?

I am learning (and experimenting!) with influencer marketing right now! I’ve done it in the past, but it has been a few years since I’ve last done it, so I’m catching myself up on best practices.

What do you love about your life in this moment?

I love that I have so much happening in my life right now. It’s keeping me busy and allowing me to interact with a wide variety of people.

What brings you joy/fills your soul?

Truly genuine people and conversations. It sounds cliché, but in the last two years I have met and developed some of the most fulfilling friendships with some of the best people I’ve ever known. It brings me absolute joy to be around them.

If a kid walked up to you asking for your advice and you only had a few minutes to give them your best tip, what would it be?

Take risks in life, even when you’re scared. You never want to wonder “what if?” and because of your young age, even if things don’t work out, you will be able to bounce back.

What do you wish everyone knew about entrepreneurism?

Being entrepreneurial is hard and requires a lot of discipline. That lifestyle sounds amazing to most, but it is going to require a lot of time on your part, especially when you’re starting out. Work doesn’t truly “stop” and you don’t really get away from it, so it’s something to keep in mind.
